Doug and others,
I received a phone call from Russell Smith, President of PDI, in advance of
the merger announcement. He wanted to assure me that the merger would in no
way undermine the BrailleNote GPS development and distribution. I was quite
impressed that he had the forethought and took the time to make this phone
call.
We don't expect to see any ramifications on either Trekker or BrailleNote
GPS development. Both products have their benefits. Although Sendero
certainly works closely with PDI when developing around the BrailleNote, it
is really up to us to improve the product, to acquire newer POI databases,k
etc. Additionally, we were already cooperating with VisuAide on a couple
fronts like using their map data for the Canadian BrailleNote GPS. We have
also had numerous meetings to come up with a common POI format. Now that
they are part of the PDI group, there is even more reason to cooperate.
Thanks for raising the question Doug.
Now, off to catch my flight to Florida.
