[gps-talkusers] Re: Trekker and Mobile GEO

Actually, I remember reading an article comparing the maps from navteq and tele atlas, I'll post it if I can find the link, but teleatlas came out slightly on top.

Trekker uses maps and points of interest from Navteq. They have about one tenth the number of POIs on the Sendero products. Wayfinder uses the same maps as the Sendero products but they don't license as many points of interest.

We have links to all the GPS products along with reviews at

Once I have a chance to go over the details more of Mike's review, we would like to post it there as well.

I have never used trecker, although this runs on a PDA, so it's not
going to be nearly as portable as mobile geo or Way Finder Access,
which run on cell phones. I don't know what maps Trecker uses, but
Mobile Geo and Way Finder Access use maps from Tele Atlas, and I
believe the maps on Way Finder Access are newer, though Mobile Geo's
maps are supposed to be updated in the future. You may want to go to www.humanware.com for more info on trecker.

Are the functions available in Mobile Geo similar to those offered by
Trekker? Do I understand correctly that once you purchase Mobile
Talks and
the G{PS software, you do not need to use cell phone minutes. What
PDA's
are you using and about what do they cost? How do you enter
information on
the PDA; is there an overlay similar to what you get with Trekker?
What
maps are used?
