Jim, you can definitely save the installation program on your hard drive.
There will not be any changes made or conversions.
I do it all the time.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Transferring the GPS installation program.
Hello Mike and All:
Can one move the GPS installation program from the BrailleNote Compac Flash
disk to my hard drive for backup purposes. What I am wondering is, does the
conversion that takes place when transferring from the BrailleNote to my
hard drive dammage the program in any way or invalidate the re-installation
process?
Thanks all over the place gang.
