[gps-talkusers] Re: Speed and timing and Poi's triggering

Peggy:

Does the vehicle that does not pick up the signal have darker or flatter
windows? In the past two weeks I have ridden the Amtrak train from the Bay
Area to the San Joaquin valley and have noticed that if I am sitting on the
sunny side of the train I have trouble getting a fix without positioning the
Earthmate so as to minimize light reflection. If I am sitting in a shaded
seat, I seem to have no problem picking up the signals.

Have you tried opening the window and seeing if it will trigger the poi?
Also, does the GPS pick up other poi's and intersections from that vehicle?

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Speed and timing and POI's triggering

Hi, guys. I secretly checked the speed both my husband and daughter drive
on the street with the high school that sometimes registers on the BN and
sometimes doesn't. My daughter, from whose car I always pick up the high
school, drives quite a bit faster than my hubby, from whose car I've never
picked up the high school when we pass. If it were a timing thing,
shouldn't it be the other way around, as he, going slower, would be within
range of the high school longer? Just curious.
