Well actually you can still do this in GPS 3.5 Mike, (smile). I
thought of that too! What you do is open the route in GPS mode not
in VIrtual mode, then switch to Virtual mode, when you do this your
virtual position is not locked to the route itself so you can
virtually explore the map with the route open and continue to add
virtual points to your route just like you could in GPS 3.3.
The power of 3.5 just got even better :)

Situation 14:
I have created a Virtual route and left out a couple intersections I
want to add to the virtual route after I have saved it. Prior to GPS
3.5, I could do this because my Explore position and Virtual
waypoints were independent. Now, when you load a virtual route and
move through it, your Explore position moves with you so you can't
add explore points as waypoints in the same way.
Question: How do I add a Virtual waypoint to a previously created
Virtual route in 3.5?
Answer: First, before opening the Virtual route, explore to the
intersection you want to add. Record a Point of Interest at that
intersection. Record POIs at any other intersections you want to add
to the route.
Now, open the Virtual route. Then move through the route until you
have the waypoint highlighted before which you wish to add the new
waypoint. Search for the intersection POI you wish to insert. Press
R then K to copy that POI into the Virtual route. Repeat this step
for any other points. Use the route editing commands if you need to
rearrange any of these waypoints.
Of course, if you wanted to actually travel to the intersection you
wished to add, you could do so in GPS mode by standing at the
intersection and using Chord K to record the point in the route.
