Hello James,This is not a simple plug in fix moving from SDK 2.0 to 3.0. It took the BrailleNote GPS software over 10 months to get an upgrade. Now granted I was writing the SDK changes needed in parallel with the BrailleNote UI changes, but if I were given the new SDK 3.0 in my lap today it would take me 1 to 2 months to implement its changes (and I wrote the SDK) and then you have to go to Beta for a few weeks to make sure you haven't broken anything else, plus you have to deal with multiple devices in the case of Mobile Geo and the unique issues that arise on a specific cell phone, PDA's etc.A lot has changed especially how you interact with Points of Interest, basically HIMS and CodeFactory will have to rewrite how they deal with POIs from scratch as we have completely rewrote the entire POI database not to mention the Route database and implemented a complete DRM system for map and POI authentication.CodeFactory and HIMS are doing everything they can to release a new version based on the new SDK, you all just need to be a little patient. A lot of cool new features have been implemented based on your feedback. I am sure it will be worth the wait.Thank you Charles LaPierre At 02:15 PM 12/17/2008, you wrote:What is up with mobile geo, can we get a update on something??? Are they still interested in upgrading their Product??This is very very sad. You guys are getting all these new upgrades and poi and maps, and we have nothing. This is sad... Its just not fair. An I'm speaking on behalf of all geo mobile users. Its ashamed. Its going in to 2009 and still nothing...Maybe I should look in to Wayfinder.----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles LaPierre" <charles@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 5:05 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: Sendero Releases New Maps and POIsHello Timothy,No SDK 2.0 can only use 2007 maps, only the latest released SDK 3.0 can use the 2008 maps because of the new map Digital rights management scheme which is now embedded in the maps themselves for copy protection. Both HIMS and CodeFactory are working on new versions based on the 3.0 SDK, look for new versions of these in the months to come. Thanks Charles At 01:31 PM 12/17/2008, you wrote:Will there be 2008 maps for products using the previous SDK?----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Grabowski" <chris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 4:21 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: Sendero Releases New Maps and POIs Hi, Sendero GPS for the BrailleNote version 5 and the Sendero SDK 3.0 use 2008 maps for USA. The files Charles is talking about are Points of Interest that are imbedded in the maps themselves. So Charles extracted the Points of Interest from the 2008 maps. This gives us more Points of interest to play with and we may have multiple Points with the same name. They are also optional, if you want to use them you may. If you come across a POI you don't want, with version 5.0 you can delete it. Hope this helps. Weren't the maps for the united states supposed tobe updated in 2008?----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles LaPierre" <charles@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 1:38 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Sendero Releases New Maps and POIsHello everyone and Happy Holidays!Sendero is pleased to announce the release additional maps and over 2.2Million POIs.For all countries listed below the new RMF POI's can be found once you log in to your mysendero website using your serial number and password justlike you did to download your maps originally. The RMF POIs for the Ireland can be found in the single package located inthe UK maps directory. The additional POIs are contained in the zip file"2008POIs_RMF_CountryName.zip" Eg. "2008POIs_RMF_USA.zip" The zip filecontains 2 files a pdb and an rmf file both of these files should be copied over to your maps folder. Not all of these POIs will be unique and you may get duplicates when using these new POIs. These new POIs are optional and its up to you if you want them or not. You can tell if the POI is from this file by looking in the "Tags" Field and if there is the text "RMF" then it is a POI from this new data set. Don't forget you could even search for "RMF" in the "Tags" field during an advance search to give you an idea of the data this newfile contains.By the way, "RMF" stands for "Rich Map Format" which is the map format weuse. We extracted these embedded POIs from the RMF maps you currentlyhave and made available these POI's which you had but didn't have access to. These POIs are provided by the map company themselves as a basic set of POIs for their maps. So as a result some of these POIs like the CityPOI category will be in their embedded map POIs and also their premiumPOIs which Sendero also licenses and you already have. There was no easy way to remove these duplicates but the additional POIs we feel out weighthe occasional duplicate POI. Here is a complete list of Countries which have been released and the number of additional POIs for each Country. Enjoy and Happy Holidays everyone!
