[gps-talkusers] Re: Questions concerning announcement of intersections and POI look-up

Scott,

If you only wish to hear information about intersections, first press SPACE
with M to turn off look around. You can then use the repeat command by
pressing M, then press the letter X to have intersections repeated.

As to the second question. If you press enter without typing a value into
the beginning distance prompt, the default is 0 miles. If you enter no
value for the ending distance, the default is .25 miles or 1 quarter of a
mile.

See the section in the manual titled "Advanced POI Search".

Hope this helps,

Angela

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Questions concerning announcement of intersections
and POI look-up

Hello Group:
Thanks for being here! Am using the trial version 3.5 on an mpower BT. I
have read the manual, but it probably deserves a 2nd or 3rd reading since
I'm sure I missed some fine points. Here's my first question.
When in a vehicle with no pre-defined route set, is it possible to hear
intersections as you approach them, without hearing POI information?
With look-around mode on, it seems that intersections and POIS are reported,
but with look-around off, intersections are reported only with the X or
chord X commands. What am I missing?

Second question -- am I allowed two for one? <grin>

Is it possible to set the distance for POI look-up to less than one mile? I
assume that when you set the starting and ending distance to 0 and 1, that
means within one mile. In a city like Washington, DC, that can still be a
lot of POIS reported. I do realize that you can limit the search by
category, but I would like to look around on say a particular block or two
or between two addresses, if that's possible.

Thanks so much for sharing your expertise.

Scott
