[gps-talkusers] Re: POIs on a campus

Hi Julie, I work at UC Berkeley and have set a few POI's for myself and a few
students as I use the Sendero product with a voicenote mpower. I started doing
that a few years back and more recently have found quite a few bonus POI's in
the public user POI file. I haven't done much poking around to see how
accurate they are to actual points, but suspect they are not totally reliable
like many other commercial POI's. For example, I might find a bonus POI for
California Hall, but it doesn't say east door to California Hall. I set some
POI's for several students who needed doors to certain buildings marked or
stairways leading from parking lots that were difficult to locate with just a
cane or dog. I have not created manual routes to any of these POI's but rather
just relied on the direction I was going in relation to a particular POI, the
distance from it, and so-forth. I do think manual routes could be helpful,
just haven't experimented with them. Good luck, Jim

Subject: [gps-talkusers] POIs on a campus

  Hello,

I am an O&M Specialist (currently on a leave of absence while back in school)
and I'm learning how to use Sendero GPS so that I my teach it in the future.
I'm working on learning how to set POIs create manual routes; it was suggested
that a good place to work on this would be on a college campus. At this time,
I'm just going to be making a few routes for my own practice, but I was
wondering what types of POIs other people have done for college campuses --
what is most helpful?

  Thanks.

  Julie Hapeman
