[gps-talkusers] Re: New M1000's Chipset

Hi Chris,
Oh yeah correct the developer. Well in my defence... lets see... Ummm it was late, I was tired, I had been programming for 12 hours straight, I was watching TV at the time, and ummmm oh I had too many of those beers... ha ha.

Yes people I am human I do make mistakes, it doesn't happen too often, oh and no one from the Beta Team can say anything to the contrary, remember you are under NDA and all the mistakes I make shall never see the light of day. (smile).

Thanks Chris you are correct it does use the MTK chipset, and I actually knew that. That is why it uses less power and has a longer battery life. We did test another GPS receiver with that same chipset which looked on paper to be even better than the M1000 but it was too flaky and occasionally would jump 1 to 3 blocks away and slowly come back to where you really are located when travelling at slow speeds under 2 MPH.

Hi,
just a quick response to this.
the Holux m-1000 is not using the Sirf III chipset. it is using an
MTK chipset. it's like Intel VS AMD.
just a different manufacturer.
It is still not the next generation receiver.
Hope this clears things up a bit.
