Hello Bob,
Go to the trekker list and check it out. I don't hear much complaining. As
far as I know you can not record a root while you are traveling it, and
there isn't a gathering of user POIS. There may be other small differences,
but I'm not sure. You can go to humanware.ca and download the software for
the trekker, and then open it and read the manual. Gerry

Hello Dick,
Have you used the Bluetooth Trekker?
My friend Scott wants to buy one but we are not sure how well it works
out.
I have the Voice Note with G P S program 2.0 but wonder how the Trekker
works with the palm computer?
Any experience Dick?

Hello, Gerry,
TYhasnk you for the update. From what I read, I thought the student had
to have received his guide dog through the school. Either way,
especially if they actually do not require you to have got your guide
from the, I think it is nice of them to offer that 5 day training course.

Leader Dogs is the school. They offer the plane flight and a five day
class free. You must buy the trekker from them. You must go through the
application process just as if you were wanting a dog. They don't care
if you use a cane or a Guide dog. They only want to train for the
trekker. Gerry

Hello, Bob,
There is a guide dog training school that is associated with the trekker.
They will give 5 days training on the Trekker if you have got your dog
from that school. Even if you have not, the first grad from that Trekker
course wrote a long commentary on his experience. My hard drive crashed
and I lost most of my data on that guy, but I think someone on this list
can clue you in.

Hello Mike,
I wonder how it is to handle the palm computer that comes with the
Trekker.
I am researching this for a friend who is not skilled at Braille yet he
would like to travel with information in our area provided by the G P S.
Do you know of anyone who has used the Trekker and how they find it as a
tool for traveling?
Bob

Bob,
Trekker covers the basics quite nicely. It doesn't have all the
functionality of the BrailleNote GPS. Since you already have a
VoiceNote, it is somewhat of an academic question. Trekker is more of an
option for someone who doesn't have or intend to get a PDA. Its Menu
driven interface is something one should check out more than the GPS
features to see if it works for you.

As far as the trekker's computer or Palm computer, have you used it?
does it give you as much navigational information as using a voice
note?
Thanks Mike.
