[gps-talkusers] Mike May on GMA with GPS

Joleen,

I am happy just to get a signal among the urban canyon of mid town Manhattan. I
definitely got a signal. The multi path is pretty strong but my feeling is that
I'd rather have a signal than none at all. It is always amazing to me to do a
POI search within a quarter mile and have the 5000 limit reached.

As far as GMA, I actually did three pieces. One was on around 7:35 AM with
Diane Sawyer. I was pretty proud of myself when she asked about the Sunset and
I managed to work in a comment about the Sendero GPS.

There is an extended version of GMA that runs on the Internet and also an ABC
News version that runs on XM Radio channel 155.

Behind the scenes, it was fun to meet Rascal Flats and the former President of
South Korea. I also talked to Sam Champion about taking a Zero G flight,
something he did and I almost did.

One fun use of the GPS, when we arrived last night, there was terrible traffic
because of the UN meeting. We got within 3 blocks of our hotel and traffic was
at a crawl. Suddenly Brad Pit jumped into a vehicle in front of us after
popping out of a movie preview of a George Cluney movie.

I knew from the GPS when I was a block from the hotel. Because of one way
streets, the limo had to go two blocks forward to double back to the hotel. I
figured this might take another half hour so we just bailed out on the corner
and walked the short block to the Warwick hotel. The driver was reluctant to
let us do this. Guess he finally decided I was a veteran New Yorker. In fact,
it was my trusty GPS at work.
