[gps-talkusers] Re: Magellan v}sus e>?mate4

I have used the Magellan for about 3 years and now the Earthmate for several
months. The biggest difference and advantage I find for the Earthmate is
the simple slide switch to turn the Earthmate on and off, not a series of
difficult buttons to figure out which one does what, as on the Magellan.
The second big difference and advantage of the Earthmate is the rechargeable
battery that can be connected in either of two ways. If it is attached
directly to the Earthmate the clip on the back connects very conveniently to
the shoulder strap and the cable just runs down the strap and into the
accessory pouch without any problem. At least on my Magellan, the connector
is on the back and sticks out about 1/4 inch and has a couple of ears on the
connector that make any attachment challenging. I have put a couple of
strips of Velcro on each side of the Magellan which work fairly well. As
far as accuracy, I understand technically that the Earthmate could be more
accurate, but that is going to be more of a function of what the receiver
can see. By the way, the Earthmate does not have an antenna sticking out to
poke one in the shoulder or whatever.

i'm currently using a magellan but am wondering about changing over to the
