Currently you can't join  two routes together.  Here are your options.
1. Create each route separately, save them both, and then load each as you 
need them.
2. Create one of the routes automatically (the longer or the part of the 
route which has the most turns in it), then continue adding points manually 
to the route either by physically going there having the route open, and 
keep adding points where you need them, or virtually open that route, and 
continue adding points either to the beginning of the route or end of the 
route depending on which part of the route you had previously done.
