Hi Jim,
As far as installing using U followed by A or U followed by I, both
will work equally well. The advantage of U followed by I is you
don't get the additional prompt for a command line argument which the
installer doesn't need, but both will work. It sounds like you
didn't hold down dots 1 2 3 long enough for the program not to get
loaded. Sendero always recommends after a dots 1 2 3 or S D F reset
that you try to run the GPS program and if it runs then you didn't
hold dots 1 2 3 or S D F long enough. After pressing reset while
holding down dots 1 2 3 or S D F once you get to the main menu if you
press "N" for Navigation the system should just beep at you and not
run the program, only then can you install overtop of your old
version with U (Utilities) followed by either A (application) or I
(Install). If you use U/I it will only ask for where the program is
and run it, if you press U/A it will ask for a command line argument
as well which you have to just press enter on but both will install
the software correctly as long as the correct reset has been done, if
you get a message about the file is in use well then you didn't do
the resect correctly and you also didn't try pressing N from the main
menu to test to see if GPS would run.
Remember when doing a 123 or SDF reset you must be pressing those
keys while you press and release the reset button, and then continue
to hold those keys down for a good 10 or more seconds until you hear
the melodic sounds, or as we normally tell our user just keep holding
them down until the system says "Main Menu" Then press N which
should just beep at you as GPS has not been loaded into memory at
which point you can install or uninstall GPS using Utilities
(Install) or (Applications)
As far as your I-Blue receiver, I am surprised to hear this as all
tests we have done show this receiver to be better than the Holux
m-1000. Now that being said it won't blow the doors of the m-1000
for either time to first fix or position accuracy but it is better,
if you are finding it worse than your m-1000 then you may have a
defective receiver but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion with out a
lot more testing. The satellites may have just been having a bad
day. For example if a satellite goes bad for whatever reason it will
take over 1/2 an hour before that information is downloaded on a
separate channel from the satellites with the almanac of where the
satellites are in orbit and their health status, so during that time
the "bad" satellite could be causing positions to be inaccurate.
So again, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet, I would wait and
see how it performers over several days or even weeks. We have been
testing this receiver for over 3 months now and feel confident in its
abilities and stand behind it. We do not make these decisions
lightly and a lot of testing around the world in various situations
all came back favorable. We even told a select number of non-Sendero
employees about this receiver a while ago and they all told us how
much better the Iblue was over the m1000. Kevin Chao for instance
loves the new receiver and as many of you know he really puts the
system to the test!
Now this receiver is more sensitive and therefore could be
potentially pick up multi path signals which other receivers wouldn't
even be able to pick up but I would rather have a signal which is off
by 100 feet or more than no signal.
Bottom line is this is a good receiver, it has double the battery
life, double the number of channels for tracking satellites and is
about 6db more sensitive than the m1000.
Thanks for the questions hope this helps.
Charles.

Hi Charles, I have 5.03 but thought I'd get the latest version
anyway. I am using the voicenote mpower. One command that I had
forgotten or overlooked that you may want to remind people about is
the Utilities command and I for install command. I was using the
U followed by the A for applications and it kept telling me that a
certain windows file was in used and to reset using the 1 2 3
reset. I would do that but still get the same resultes until I
talked to Gil at Sendero support yesterday and he discovered my mistake.
I just got the I blue 737 today and so far, don't find that it
acwuires sattelites much more quickly than the Holux 1000. I alwo
was kind of surprised to find quite a bit of drift showing up even
though I was sitting outside in an open area. I had gone several
hundred feet in one direction or another while sitting at a picnic
table at my place. Do you think that is "Normal" for the I Blue? Thanks, Jim

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Sendero GPS 5_04 Released
Hello Sendero GPS customers
For Immediate Release Sendero GPS 5.04
For those who already have GPS 5.0, 5.01, 5.02 or 5.03 you do not
need to get this update, but if you want to you can obtain it from
your Sendero Account at http://www.gosendero.com/
This upgrade supports the new pay-as-you-go product licensing model.
Don't forget to verify your downloaded file size matches that of
the original file so there are no corrupt downloads. If the file
size doesn't match after it has been downloaded, your file is
probably incomplete and you should delete your Internet cache and
try downloading it again.
You do not have to un-install your old version but you will have to
do a 123/sdf reset before you install 5.04. If you hear the
message that some DLL file is in use then you haven't performed the
correct reset and should try again holding down 123/sdf and the
reset button on the mPower or on the PK C3/C4 and dots 123.
Thanks
