Hi,, I want to say how thrilled I am with the latest release of GPS for the
BN-PK. The BN-PK and the Earthmate Blue Logger are so light that I won't think
twice about carrying it with me everywhere I go. Carl from Sendero helped me
set up the Blue Tooth connection between the two devices, (thanks, Carl), and,
after taking 20 minutes for the receiver to acquire the satelites for the first
time, it has acquired them in seconds from that time on. I love being on a bus
or in a taxi and seeing what streets we pass. I'd tried this with previous
receivers, but, often the connection was lost when I got on the bus. Having no
cables makes it really convenient! If a bluetooth connection is unpaired, I'll
be able to repair it and go on my way, which isn't possible with a faulty
cable.
Now, I'm really looking forward to exploring my area with GPS support. I
recently moved to North Andover, MA, and since it is more suburban, I don't
often meet people on the street. If I want to know what street I'm walking on,
I can easily find that information. And, I haven't even put the GPS through
its paces, yet. I haven't planned and calculated routes yet, but that will
happen this weekend for vihicular routes and on Monday for a pedestrian route
when I walk to Curves. I've made mistakes when I've tried walking there
without GPS, missing the correct turn, etc. Now, I'll be able to take whatever
length walk I've planned to take, (grin). Yah, I know, the extra exercise was
good for my physical well-being, but not always for my mental well-being,
although I always figured I'd get to where I needed to go, eventually.
However, "eventually" was the operative word. With GPS, I don't have to add
much extra time to arrive at my destination at the hour at which I expected to
do so. Using GPS really takes a lot of anxiety and frustration away from
considering where to walk and how to get there.
Thanks very much, Sendero Group.
Rosemary
