[gps-talkusers] Re: How well does mobile geo work?

I've wondered about that, do those displays really fit in your pocket? I'be thought often it would probably be hard to hear the speech and the environmnt around you at the same time. So courious how the tiny displays do work. I've seen a small one, but not one that is truly pocket sized. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Sivill" <mike.sivill@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Eric,
I use Mobile Geo and I love it. I use the Hollux external receiver and it
holds its battery charge longer than my phone does. But I do switch it off
when not actively using the GPS. I use the brailliant 40 bluetooth display
which fits in my pocket. This combination is a lot smaller than any
braillenote model. I don't always bring the display with me but I always
have my phone anyway so it is a sensible option. And it seems like
sendero/code factory have been getting the upgrades out pretty consistently.

I would recommend mobile Geo.
Mike

Subject: [gps-talkusers] How well does mobile geo work?

I'm thinking about getting either mobile geo or brailleNote GPS to
replace my SenseNav, since GW have dropped the ball in regards to
updates. I'm leaning towards mobile geo due to the portability and
small size of a cell phone. However I have several issues.

1. Battery life. Using a bluetooth receiver plus things like WiFi
must drain the phone's battery quickly. What kinds of results have
others had?

2. No braille display

3. Since Sendero is lisencing the product and not building it
themselves, it could suffer from the same lack of updates as SenseNav.
However I understand that the features of Sendero GPS version 5 are
available for mobile geo, whereas SenseNav hasn't been updated in well
over a year.

Thoughts and suggestions would be apreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Eric
