Hi-tech help points way for the blind
  Scotsman.com (Edinburgh, Scotland)
A GROUP of blind people were today trying out a
hi-tech satellite system to guide them round the
  Capital.
The system, developed with GPS technology used by
sailors and hillwalkers, provides Braille and voice
  messages telling users
  where they are.
The group of American and Dutch visitors were start
their visit at the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood.
Leading the party was Mike May, 46, who developed
the system. He said: "When you can get around
  independently, the number one
limiting aspect of blindness is minimised."
"That's why some blind colleagues and I developed
this technology and enjoy sharing it with others."
Mr May and his colleagues planned to use the
equipment, produced by Sendero Group running on a
  BrailleNote personal data
assistant, to find their way to museums, historic
  buildings and pubs.
