Gary,
This list is actually for owners of the GPS Note which works with the Braille
Note group of products. However, I represent a dealer and have a Trekker unit
as well.
Let me say first off that as far as GPS capabilities, they are similar except
that the GPS Note is more feature-rich. At least here in the USA, there are
many more Poi's, route creation is quicker and the maps appear to be more
accurate. There are also a lot more extra features in the GPS Note.
Specifically with reference to the Trekker, the latest version made some big
improvements in usability. The Trekker unit is the size of a standard PDA, it
uses the Dell XM-51 or HP Ipac. It can fit in a shirt pocket; you get a
blue-tooth GPS receiver and I usually clipped an external speaker on because
the
PDA audio is hard to hear. There are hotkeys to determine where you are, the
upcoming intersection, GPS quality, City, Altitude, etc.
HTH,
Steve

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Hi.
Hi all.
My name is Gary. I am from South Africa.
I am interested in buying the trekker gps system.
I would like to know a little bit more about it first.
I would like to sea first hand what it does and how it works and how effective
it is.
I can't find anyone in South Africa that has one.
There is a dealership that sells them here, but they do not have a demo model.
They can give me a 30 day money back guarantee, but I don't just want to buy it.
I would like to know basically how big is it, and what does it look like and
most of all is it user friendly for a totally blind person.
The cost of the trekker is about 5 times the amount of a normal gps that you
can
buy in the normal shop.
Thanks,
Gary.
