Actually you with Sendero's GPS you can not explore the railway network in
virtual mode either. If this is something you wish to be able to do the
please speak up and we will add it to the feature requests and if we get
enough interest it may be included in a future release.
We also do not allow you to create Rail routes, we may be able to create
Rail Routes if it is something a number of users want as well. Not sure
how helpful it would be, but could be possible. But your current position
would have to be on a rail and your ending position as well since we would
not allow mixed mode transportation (ie. rail to road, or road to rail.)
Thanks
Charles

As a Trekker and Sendero gPS user, I can safely say that if there are
any commands in the Sendero system for creating a railway route they are
very well hidden. Possibly if you are traveling in a fairly populated
area and you establish a vehicle/motorized route for either system, it
will probably want to be rerouting very often.
the sendero system does give you a tremendous amount of information
about what your passing.
I think someone should start a list of strange names they find for POI's
so far for me while traveling by train, in one town next to the station
was "terminal Drugs". Not for me think you.
