[gps-talkusers] Re: GPS mobile phones

Hello everyone:
on the talks listserv we have seen a lot of talk about way finder. =
There
are a few people on that list that have been using it in Europe and say =
it
works well. The rumour on the list is that the US version will be =
released
very soon or has already been released. People are saying that talks =
works
well at giving directions but some of the features of way finder are =
still
graphical. I am looking forward to trying it and will get back to this =
list
with my results.

Hello Adil,

GPS on a mobile phone is certainly relevant on this list. I have seen =
the=20
Wayfinder used at the Sight Village conference last July. Basic GPS=20
functions appeared to be covered. I didn't use the phone while walking=20
around. It was just a virtual demo.

Wayfinder is a service available in the UK and Europe for a subscription =

fee and the price of the GPS receiver. The vendor who showed it to me =
was=20
Steve Nutt.

The BrailleNote GPS has at least double the features but Wayfinder =
seemed=20
to cover the basics nicely.
