[gps-talkusers] Re: GPS and BrailleNote

Angelo,

There are certain advantages when using BrailleNote GPS in a vehicle
because you are in the street. On average, you are more in view of
satellites versus pedestrian use when you might be blocked occasionally by
buildings.

It is also easier to pay attention to the information from the BrailleNote
when you are sitting in a relatively quiet environment versus walking on a
noisy street. This is particularly true for beginning users. You should
learn the system when you are not having to focus on your mobility.

Caution: Once you become proficient, sighted drivers become very dependent
upon their BrailleNote GPS navigators. You will never be allowed to sleep,
day dream or talk on the cell phone while riding shotgun.

the sighted drivers self confidence and ability to navigate independently
will become even worse. Perhaps a new support group will have to be formed
for blind navigation dependent drivers.
