Hello Dave,
I have to razz you a bit before answering your question. Now, if I did
something embarrassing like that, I probably would contact Sendero
privately rather than telling the world. But, you aren't known for being a
shy guy.
Those pins are exposed because the latched was not pressed before
disconnecting the cable or perhaps because it was used as a dog leash.
In any event, contact the dealer from whom you purchased your product for
technical support. If the cradle was defective, there would be no charge
for replacement. Since it sounds like you need to purchase a new cradle, it
may be fastest to do so from Delorme directly 800 349-1896.
Since you brought up this subject, it is important for all users to read
the Earthmate Getting Started document located in Documents, GPS Receivers
Earthmate.
