Hi, List!
I have changed the subject line to reflect what has been the topic of
conversation under the "state policy" subject.
Mr. Myers, do you have some vision? The reason I ask is because you appear to
talk a great deal about systems that sighted people can use rather than about
systems that blind people can utilize. Does this Garmin system you have speak
to you, or are you having someone else to do the reading of it to you? Just
wondering.
As far as the pricing is concerned, there are those of us out here that have
our BrailleNotes before we even heard of the GPS System that will work with it.
I would love to have this system, but like others, I cannot afford it, yet. I
use a dog guide, but because of my hearing problem as well, the GPS system
would be a great assett for me when out walking by myself looking for
particular establishments.
When my husband is driving, we tend to discuss which ways would be the most
efficient to use. Having this system would be beneficial in that capacity as
well. He can find most everything by himself, but we do like to help one
another when possible to find places that we want to go to visit. It gives both
of us a sense of having contributed to the cause, so to speak.
I am enjoying this conversation about the systems and there costs, but I still
would like to get the GPS for the BN. At least with this information, I can
pass it along to other people in my area that are interested in these systems.
This is a very important topic for blind people and should be kept up with for
future mobility use.
