Hi,
I am still trying to resolve this issue of creating manual routes. Here is what
I have solved and where I am still stuck
I have been trying to creat a manual route from my apartment to a rose garden a
few blocks away.
1. I turned off automatic route recalculation, forced sequential waypoint
following, auto increments off, look-around off, automatic announcements all
turned off, in fact, everything I can disable I have done.
2. I go in to virtual mode, create a route and set my first waypoint at my
starting point.
3. I then move along my route virtually, naming and describing waypoints as I
go. I am very clear as to my cardinal directions.
Now here is where the problems show up: The latter part of the route is not on
the map because it is necessary to descend two very long flights of stairs
to get to the rose garden. I have previously recorded some pois in gps mode
while actually standing on the spot which are essential for completing the
route. I have added these as waypoints while in virtual mode at the proper
locations including my destination.
However, While I travel along this route either virtually or physically I get
the message warning! off route! If I try to recalculate it I get the error
message unable to recalculate route or unknown route as well as the warning,
off route message. Can someone give me any suggestions for how to resolve this
problem? I want to solve this puzzle on a simple route before I attempt to go
hiking and find that I am being given wrong compass directions to reach my
destination.
Also, I just reversed the route virtually, and I could not get any heading at
all. And, I have a related question. Is it possible to copy and paste a
waypoint from one route into another route? I know I can do it within the same
route, but when I tried to copy a waypoint, close one route and open a
different one and paste,I got the message, nothing copied. I even tried keeping
both routes open with the same result. This would seem to be especially helpful
if one accidently erases a waypoint like I did and the very one needed resides
in another route.
And finally I would Ideally like to create a route that begins and returns to
my starting point without coming back by the same way. In other words, a big
circle or rectangle. Reversing the route will not work in this situation.
Thanks for any help you can offer me.
