[gps-talkusers] Re: Comparison of Holux vs. EarthMate

Hi Kevin,

I have used both receivers, plus a couple more that Sendero doesn't market.
First of all, they all work fine with the Sendero product. Personally,
although some might disagree with me on this, I don't feel that whether one
receives seven or ten satellites is a big thing, you will still get where you
want to go and will be able to mark POI'S and way-points accurately.

The two nice things about the Holux receiver are that there is a slide on-off
switch so knowing whether it is on or off is much simplified, and Sendero has
worked with Holux to have the receiver modified so that WAAS is enabled.

I also like the fact that the battery is the same as the one in my cell phone.
This makes getting replacements easier, and also will allow me to switch
batteries should I need to at some point.

Of course, as you say in your note, it is quicker to get a fix, and the
receiver is more sensitive than some older receivers, and should work in more
places where sensitivity is an issue.

If you should wish to read more, All of this is well documented in the manual
and getting started document at the Sendero web site.

Dave

taxation WITH representation isn't so hot, either!

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Comparison of Holux vs. EarthMate

  Dear Listers,
I have a question for users who used the EarthMate GPS reciever, then
switched to the Holux reciever. I have heard that there is a great deal of
difference with the ease of turning the reciever on and off, being able to get
more satellites, being able to get a fix quicker, and also being able to get
satellites in locations where you found it hard to get satellites before using
the EarthMate.

So, I was wondering what is your opinion on this from a user's perspective.
  Kevin
