That is correct you need to have all relevant maps in a maps folder. Now I
can't remember the exact breakdown of the UK maps but you may need more
than just North & South, you may have to have East England in there if the
route goes through that region for example.
Having the other maps in the same directory is not a problem, and I think
having all UK maps in the same folder should not affect
anything. Especially if you have a PK, my gosh, put all your maps in one
directory, the PK can handle up to 18 maps in the same folder.
