>Diane,
I have answered your questions below.
>1. Those of you who use dog guides, how do you wear your BrailleNote while
>working your dog?
* Wear the BN like a purse with one arm through the strap. With the dog on your
left, the BN would be on your right hip where you can move it to the center or
swing it to the side.
>2. what do people recommend for protecting the BrailleNote from the weather?
* If you want to shield the display a bit, have two Velcro straps constructed
so the lid of the case can be held open at 45 degrees. This keeps your hands
warmer and might deflect any debree which could brush you. A plastic grocery
bag works great if you have to cover the unit in light rain but head for cover
as soon as possible or zip the unit within a jacket.
>3. What type of card does the maps come on?
* The standard card is a 1 GB compact flash card. Larger cards are available.
>4. Can I plan a route from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Magnolia, Texas, and not have
>to use separate maps to do this?
* You can calculate a route across the U.S. if your card is large enough. The 1
GB card will hold about one fith of the country so you just need to have the
appropriate states on the same card and in the same map folder.
>5. What is the cost of upgrades after the initial purchase price?
* Upgrades have averaged about $100 per year.
>6. How often do the maps get upgraded?
* The maps have been upgraded every 12 to 18 months.
