John,
You can reinstall Atlas and choose no speech or perhaps there will be
a software synthesizer in the list you can use. You can also go into
the S&A.ini file and change speech and drivers. Make sure and follow
the same syntax.

Hello all,
Now that I have a new computer running Windows XP Professional what do I
have to do to use Atlas Speaks? It is looking for the DEC talk PC2
synthesizer. Since I am running Windows XP and don't have an ISA
slot on the motherboard I can't use the dectalk. What software
synthesizer can I use and how can I change it. Can I tell Atlas
that I want No Speach and use my regular screen reader? I am using
Window-Eyes 5.5.
Thanks for any help.
