There are a couple tricks to dealing with the address look up
situations you described.
1. Try putting in a shortened version of the name so all versions of
that name show up.
2. If you don't find the exact city or township, pick a city in the
area and set your virtual position to that place. Then do a search in
the Centre of Settlement POI category for the town you want. Set your
virtual position to that town. Press Chord C to find out the city details.
There is a whole section in the manual talking about address look-up
tips and tricks.
The zip code look-up feature is something we would really like to
have but it is a major development effort.

I had the same thing with my family in Kentucky. Their mailing address is
Corbin; and, although I could find that with no problem when using my PAC
Mate, I just couldn't find their street at all with my BrailleNote PK.
Then, when I went down there to visit, when I acquired satellites and
checked the city, it had them listed in North Corbin. So, now when I check
the Kentucky map from here and look for North Corbin, then I can indeed find
the road they live on with my PK.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Address Lookup Problems
Hello,
I have experienced problems with the address look-up function on at least a
couple of different occasions. One exsample is my parents' address in Ohio.
When I went there and had GPS turned on, the location was readily
recognized. however, I was not able to look up the address and create a
route ahead of time. It is my belief that the problem may be when there is
more than one area in the same state with the same name. It seems that you
can only get into the first list of street names and not any others that may
be under the same city or area name. In this instance, my parents' mailing
address is "Vandalia," but they live outside the city in Butler Township.
There is also I believe a city or town in Ohio named Butler and this is the
only thing I can get when I try to do a look-up.
I wonder if there will ever be the ability to do a look-up via full address
including zip code like is available with internet mapping utilities. This
would make the address lookup function much more user friendly. As it is,
my experience is that it's hard to use because any particular city has a
bunch of different listings based on parts of the city and you have to know
which one your location is in if you want to do a lookup.
Am I missing something here that would make this easier?
Thanks,
Jana
