[gps-talkusers] Re: About gps and dog guide training.

Hope,

That is a pretty long route there. I just created a route going from the
capital of Maine to Jacksonville, Florida and it required
over 200 swooshes.

If you get the 8GB CompactFlash card from Sendero, the entire US will be loaded
and will be divided into three sections, maps1west,
maps2east and maps3offshore. So for this trip you will want to load the
maps2east, which contains the eastern half of the United
States. To tell the system what maps you want loaded, you will do the
following:
Press O for GPS Options
Press M for Maps and POIs folder
Select CompactFlash in the drive list
Then select maps2east in the folder list
Then press enter to confirm your selection.

The benefit of purchasing it from Sendero is you don't have to spend the time
of downloading the maps and transferring them.

I have found http://www.newegg.com to be the best place to buy
these cards, but I know that on Black Friday (the day after
Thanksgiving) some stores are selling 4gb sd cards for $30. You
may want to consider this instead of a cf card.
http://www.bfads.net has a list of sales for a bunch of stores
but does not work well with the bn, not even the mobile site
does. You probably want to use a pc to access the site.

Have a great day,
Alex
