[gps-talkusers] Re: 3,1 experiencing poi saving problem

Gavin,
I had a similar problem when I switched to the PK. As it turned out that
there was a file on the Compact Flash card that could not be erased, because
of a error in that sector of the CF card. Needless to say this took some
time to define, but what I had to do was reformat the Compact flash card.
This is not something you would like to do if it can be avoided.
If you have a flash card reader and enough space on your hard drive it does
not take long. Follow these steps:
1 Copy all files from the CF card to a temp folder on your PC. You may find
that there is a file that can not be copied. If this is the case there is a
good chance that this is the problem. You will have to skip this file. Most
files on the compact card can be found on the CD's for the maps or the
included CD with version 3.1. If the file happens to be a file a user
created file it may not be recoverable. This is a point to observe in
having a plan to back up your user created files, with some discipline.

2 After the CF card has been copied then you will need to reformat the CF
card using the format with FAT file system.

3 You can then copy the saved files back to the CF card.

Pleas contact me if you need additional assistance.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] 3,1 experiencing poi saving problem

Hi list,
I've just in the last two weeks installed successfully V3,1 after installing
6,1, I like both and they are working well i've also bought the Earthmate
receiver which I am very pleased with.

But three times in the past week i've wanted to add POI's for my tuning
customer's front gates and i've had a problem!

After performing chord dot 3 and entering the details i've hit return and
waited!!! for on average three minutes before the BN has said POI saved, is
anyone else experiencing this problem? any thoughts.

While i'm writing, any, more up to date maps scheduled for the UK?

Regards Gavin Atkins
