I wanted to highlight a couple of recent ACLU blog posts: One of the
posts is on U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's guidelines permitting
U.S. law enforcement to engage in domestic spying
<http://blog.aclu.org/2008/05/30/with-the-stroke-of-a-pen-the-fbi-can-ab
use-power-because-of-an-ashcroft-order/> . It discusses a resolution
introduced by Representative Robert "Bobby" Scott (D-VA) to reinstate
pre-Ashcroft standards for investigation, better protecting Americans
from being spied on by the FBI.

There is also an entry on reporter shield laws
<http://blog.aclu.org/2008/06/03/keeping-reporters-out-of-jail-and-on-th
e-beat/> , an important protector of information in democracies. Please
click here to send a letter to your Senator
<https://secure.aclu.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&page=UserAction
&id=909> urging him or her to support the Free Flow of Information Act.
Sen. Specter and New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Jim
Risen will both be speaking at the upcoming ACLU membership conference
June 6 to 8 here in Washington, DC. www.aclu.org/conference to register.

            Thanks.
