Skandia Geelong Week 
Australia's largest sailing regatta kicks off today. Hosted by the Royal
Geelong Yacht Club, Skandia Geelong Week has broken another record - this
time for the greatest number entries in it's 164 year history. But the
sailors are not the only ones to enjoy all the fun - with the Buskers,
Markets and Performances on for the entire Australia Day long-weekend,
there's something for everyone on the Geelong foreshore. Go get down there
and be part of the action.


New Housing in Fyansford 
The Minister for Planning has given formal approval to 2 amendments to the
planning scheme that will provide new residential land and open space at
Fyansford. The Minister's approval will allow for residential and commercial
development of land previously occupied by the Geelong Cement Works and
former Fyansford Quarry. 

Whittington Kinder Prepares to Re-Open 
Staff from GMHBA joined members of the Geelong East Men's Shed to help
prepare the old Whittington Kindergarten for it's re-opening in early
February. The former Apollo Place Pre-School closed in 2005 due to a lack of
enrollments but will re-open this year as the Early Learning & Family Centre
at Apollo.
