I'm not sure why you need a noun?  To describe the notion of a gesture ID?

I have a question and possible objection to using gesture IDs.

Suppose all we said was that the host (or anyone who cares about capture
release) simply needs to track a counter on any captured parameters.  Then
all the plugin needs to do is make a capture/release call a la DirectX,
passing in the parameter IDs that are being captured.  The host knows the
final release has happened to a parameter when its count goes to zero.

Thoughts?
