[gmpi] Re: lost-n-found #5 - GUI windows

It was me that asked the question, now i'm thinking no. We don't need to specifically support zero windows. Hardware control surfaces (the reason I gave) are already catered for via MIDI controllers etc.

I was thinking about this too... If plug-ins are forced to have at least one editor window, then the worst that can happen is that some strange plug-in might have an editor with no controls on it. Well, at least it gives it somewhere to show the "About" info.

An improvement on VST would be if the

Sounds ok - what should be in the reqs?

Editor size is always decided by the plug-in.

Hosts can ask the plug-in for the current editor size
(or what it will be when the editor is opened).

Hosts can request a new size (may fail: plug-in returns
the nearest size it can do, which for a lot of plug-ins
is one fixed size).

As the editor window may be embedded in a host window,
if the plug-in wants to change the editor size it must
tell the host the new size (maybe this can fail too?)
