We must indeed allow for arbitrary, precise pitch specifications.
Fractional MIDI keys would work better for me than Hertz, but either is
acceptable.

Do we need to allow for arbitrary tuning ( i.e. frequencies+noteIDs
instead of MIDI note numbers ) in the requirement? Otherwise it looks
