but denormalization happening in a plugin is not a bug, a plugin in which it happens might be of a low quality, but you can't reject low-quality plugins or you wouldn't have many left :)

Problem is that you can't avoid denormalization 100%. What you actually avoid is the big CPU usage coming from lots of denormalizations, but there are always denormalizations left. I mean, if your goal is to spare CPU, then yes. But if you plan to trap denormalizations through the exception, then no, because there will always be denormalizations - it's a normal process and it happens often.

NaN-free? i don't understand what you might mean by that ... I agree
with Angus that we need to define the rules for these shared resources
(other examples might include X colormaps, which are vaguely analogous
to part of a resource context in MacOS). But NaN-free? what happens
when a plugin divides by zero?
