"Special pool" were my words, typed in haste.  Yes, duh, of course it's
paged locked memory.  The kind that has existed in every O/S including
Windows since the dawn of time.  Today in Windows they make it hard for user
mode apps to allocate locked memory.  This will change and GMPI should be

I don't want to launch again the debate, but why is it hard to use page lock memory in windows ? What are the differences
between mlock() and so in POSIX and virtual lock in windows ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/memory/base/virtuallock.asp ) ?

I didn't find any useful info about the future RT feature in longhorn...
