[gmpi] Re: Out-of-Band: suggestion for rethink

I'm not really back yet... I'll be back on Wednesday (after SONAR ships,
yay! pfftttt<g>).  But I had to chime in on this thread.

I like the idea about evaluating different SDKs.  I recall a couple of
people even suggesting this as a first step back at the kickoff meeting for
GMPI at NAMM last year.  I agree this could be a good way to get things
moving more quickly again.  (And I volunteer to do the DirectShow review.)

One thing to be careful about is that any GMPI that derives from VST would
require Steinberg's permission.  VST does have a license agreement that
prohibits any redistribution of source code.  Also, Steinberg has already
stated that they aren't interested in turning over VST to a trade
association.
