[gmpi] Re: MIDI: Common event coding

I still don't like the idea of stapling the original MIDI message, I'm
trying to find a reason that it is strictly needed.

Tim, this is the same game you tried to start by asking 'why do we need MiG?' Maybe someone else is up for it, but I'm not gonna go there.

Since we have demonstrated interest in having access to raw MIDI bytes from numerous well-informed, very professional people, people actually who show up here and do actual work on the project, and since real reasons have been given that make sense to them (even though you don't see the issue in the same way they do), after all this debate the simple facts that a) they really really want it, as evidenced by all this effort they've put into it, and b) doing it doesn't negatively impact the software that you or anyone else wants to build with GMPI, -should- be enough to allow the question to instead be phrased 'Why should we forbid the original MIDI message?'.

-Numerous- things are in GMPI that I do not think are strictly needed, not by a long shot, but because I give the people who said they need them full faith and credit, even though the way they think about those parts of GMPI makes little sense to me, I have not opposed them. I know for certain others here have done the same and feel the same way. It would be oh so nice to see just the teensy-weensiest bit of reciprocation on this.
