There's just a tad bit of pedanticness (word?) going on. ;-) Yes, we all
agree that MIDI is old and limited and GMPI will support a richer and more
capable abstraction of music data. MIDI is not the ideal. But in the
real world, the ideal has not been met, and a whole lot of music equipment
and software deals with MIDI or MIDI-derived music data, and I was just
giving a real-world example and therefore mentioned MIDI, and now folks
keep reminding us that MIDI will not be the GMPI way, yes, we know, it was
just a practical example, let's please get over the shock of the "M" word
and move on... ;) So anyway, you'll still be able to use your MIDI
stuffs with GMPI, it will simply be mapped to the Better API and no plugin
will have to deal with anything that is just plain MIDI data.
