What if it were like this:

Someone sends event to Plugin:  "change param X to 123"

Plugin is internally slewed.

Plugin sends the host a series of events, based on it's slew time: "T0: param 
X changed to 120", "T1: param X changed to 121", "T2: param X changed to 122"
"T3: param X changed to 123".

This model also works for internally generated changes.  The plugin just
notifies the host that a parameter has changed.

Notice that as computers are becoming easier and easier to use,
suddenly there's a big market for "Dummies" books.  Cause and effect,
