1) if faulty meta-data causes plugin breakage, i imagine it will be
   fixed rather quickly.

2) i really think we should listen to what people who actually work
   with meta-data for a living (e.g. steve harris) say about it,
   rather than do the all-too-common male geek thing of imagining that
   we can understand the issues by a simple intuiting of the problem
   space.
