Hm, though the whole OSC addressing model is about methods, not parameters. If we're really serious about using OSC whole, it would make more sense to dump all the work we've already done on messaging and datatypes. And an API for that matter, since OSC accesses methods via message. But if the only part of OSC we're thinking of using is the addressing notation, which is only a small subset of the OSC design, and only using that for parameter addressing and not method addressing, then IMHO we're totally gutting OSC and any actual interop with OSC is out the window... so, in that scenario, there's no longer any real need to be slavish about using strings to address slots. We'd just be borrowing the idea, and there's no need to borrow more of the idea than what fits our actual need.
