I was assuming properties are produced by the plugin for the host, and
never vice versa.  Or are some properties read-only while some are
read-write?

how do we handle this as a requirement?

    GMPI must support dynamic parameter lists.  When the parameter list
    changes, the host will be notified by the plugin.

maybe with

    The host may deny a parameter list change.

Or something.

We need something analogous for IO, unless we make it all part of the same
requirment.  We don't need to work out the exact model, just the
requirements.

As for saving/restoring structure, we can leave that to the plugin, maybe.
If it has a dynamic structure, then it can have a blob parameter to handle
that.  This can be explored more later.  I don't know that we need to say
any more.  Maybe add to the above:

    There must be a way for GMPI plugins to save and restore their
    parameter-list structure with a patch.

(The net result of this is that the plugin list COULD be automated, but it
doesn't make much sense to DO that :)
