[glug-t] t-shirts and philosophy...

 hey guys, 
         I 've got 15 more GNU/Linux t-shirts with me, PpL pass on the 
message. I shall bring them to the meeting on 20th april. 
        
        Our college MCA (Master of comp. Appl) are conducting a technical 
symposium, VERSION-2003' and their theme is 'open source'. But i feel it is a 
mistake. Open source licensing is a trojan. It gives u no better freedom than 
a properietery software, only that u can see the source but we dont have the 
freedom to modify it or redistribute it. I have spoken to the concerned guys 
yesterday. My suggestion was 'FREEDOM', But they feel the word is not 
catchy..b'cos they have to convince sponsors. Mind u VERSION attracts more 
college than FESTEMBER(Inter college cultural fest).. They plan to use only 
Free Software for all the competitions in their symp . Our GLUG cant let them 
make the mistake.. lets do something fast 'cos nothing has come in print media 
yet.. The symp is on 24th en 25th of august '03. 
         
       perhaps we can have some discussion on this topic. share ur views..
