Hi,
Run these commands to check if your running kernel has NTFS support -
rc@skynet:~ $ grep -i ntfs /boot/config-`uname -r`
CONFIG_NTFS_FS=m
# CONFIG_NTFS_DEBUG is not set
# CONFIG_NTFS_RW is not set
rc@skynet:~ $
CONFIG_NTFS_FS=m - This means it was compiled as a module.
So I quess the module would get loaded when an attemp is made to mount
an NTFS parition.
Somebody [STOP ME!!!] correct me if I am wrong.
