[glug-t] (list '(back-to (square 1)))

Hello friend!

Thanks to alagan{alagappan} for the quick minutes.

Im writing this mail to ask what GLUG-T must do with its
newbies?

Like what happened at [Yet another newbie] meeting,

   > The first years told that they didn't understand what was going
   > on as the whole concept was new.

we ended up with a stormy debate as to how meetings must be organised.

We were not able to agree, two faction argued.
One supporting latest technology in GNU/Linux at the GLUG.
The other for a conservative 'course' style gradual 'scaling'
of the GLUG-T newbie-members skills, with topics like shell, vi, emacs
etc at every meeting.

What I think {personally} though, is that if we are having 'regular'
newbies attending our meeting then we could have a 1/2 hr section
at every meeting dedicated to newbies.

Otherwise, what a friend said was 'GLUG-T meetings were a waste' is
really baseless. I consider myself a power user of GNU/Linux, and I will
not attend the meetings if after every 6 meetings we have to re-learn
and sit through irritating sessions of BASH, SHELL, VI, EMACS! <expletive>
then why do we call ourselves a group? rather we be

GLUG-T teachers initiative for repetitive courses
& stupidest meetings in the world.

I dont want that to happen.

That person also adds that GLUG-T will not 'market' for newbies, and not attract
crowds. I dont get any profit from people using GNU/Linux. I get pleasure from
talking about GNU, and sharing ideas, tips. purely voluntary.
I hate the spoon-feeding way for GLUG-T.

Why the <expletive> would I want droves of people attending [GLUG-T teachers
... initiative for repetitive courses & stupidest meetings] , while losing
away all of its senior members [like me].

Lets make a choice.

Must GLUG-T meetings be followed by the learning curve of some people
who 'MAY' wish to turn up or vanish for meetings?
Must GLUG-T pander to the occasional newbie?

What I want to make clear is that GLUG-T must be progressing.
We organise workshops, once in a while. Let total newbies join it,
to improve their ignorance. We promise to help everyone, not TEACH
them GNU/Linux in the meetings. Motivation must come from their
side , to learn contribute and explore. If they cannot only teach themselves
whats the gaurentee that they will help the group later?

I want the GLUG-T members to respond to these questions, and
your choices/answers to these problems.

Cheers
Muthu.
