Though I am replying to Hemant's mail, this is a MUST READ for every GLUG-T
volunteer.

Hmmm... Doesn't seem so from the mailing list activity and the website. The
most recent news at GLUG-T is from Feb 28, and the last meeting minutes is of
Sept 2003. I know work is done by volunteers and 100% percent perfection is not
possible. But leaving the website outdated gives a bad impression about the
group and its activity level. How many people do you think would subscribe to
the mailing list after having seen the outdated information on the website?
They would have thought we are long dead!
Our website features every month on LinuxForYou, and every concerned GNU/Linux
user in and around Trichy will surely check out the website. So whether or not
we get them into the group, lies in how we portray ourselves.
One more important thing. Do not make promises that you cannot meet. Be frank.
Learn to say 'No.' For example, if you cannot ship the books in the specified
time, just tell the concerned person, when you can. And if at a later point of
time you find you still wouldn't be able to meet the deadline, send a mail and
get the deadline postponed. Please do not keep silent. It can be really
irritating... And when you do finally ship the books, send a mail to the
concerned person, asking him for an acknowledgment. If you feel your are really
held up, and there is no way you are going to ship the books in the following
month, cancel the order! It is better to say 'No', than to keep fooling around.
I hope the group members and the volunteers take this mail positively.
Regards,
Vijay
