Dear GLUG-T members,
We must have a roadmap this year. I propose to build this continually with
group involvement.
Im sending the first draft copy. Please feel free to alter/edit/discuss the
events.
Events for the half year Nov-2004 to May-2005.
1: Hacker Workshop.
This event is long due for our GLUG. We must have had this, long time ago,
atleast 1 year ago. So we will conduct it this time. The event was very
idealistic,
and we wanted to train people in Free Software technology, GNOME,KDE process
so that we could have a wider auidence, and a productive community.
We have to elaborate on these plans, to conduct an intensive week long
workshop.
The course itself might be free/for-a-nominal cost. This could motivate
students/members to
step into the shoes of members who will leave trichy sooner.
2: Re-Vamp Meetings.
The meetings must have a long term course-kind of thread running through
them.
People continually suggest that our meetings are 'hi-fi'; i.e it doesnt
appeal to them
if we talk some esoteric software throughout the meeting. We must have some
kind of
45% newbie activity every meeting.
We need participation from outside, people who use GNU/Linux everyday, the
likes
of BHARATHI, SASTRA admin BALAJI and every one else.
3: Newbie Workshop
We might have a newbie workshop in SASTRA, or some other college
who want help. Even NIT-T might benefit.
4: Setting up GLUG's.
Manik has had enough experience in meeting people, and other college's.
So I guess we could try and setup more GLUG's in other colleges. Think
about
this?
5: Update the website.
Its pathetic, to say the least.
You can make a difference. If you want to.
Cheers
Muthu
